Prestige Bellandur station nears completion, reshaping commutes along Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road.
Discover MoreIf you've been watching the Bellandur skyline change along the Outer Ring Road, you've likely noticed the elevated viaduct taking shape near Ecospace and Adarsh Palm Retreat. This is the future Bellandur metro station on Namma Metro's Blue Line, and it's one of the most closely watched pieces of infrastructure for homebuyers in this IT-heavy corridor. Here's where things currently stand.
The station falls under Phase 2A of the Blue Line, which runs from Central Silk Board to KR Puram covering 18.236 km. This line connects KR Puram with Central Silkboard through stations including Mahadevpura, DRDO Sports Complex, Doddanakundi, ISRO, Marathahalli, Kodibisanahalli, Kadubeesanahalli, Bellandur, Ibbalur, Agara Lake, HSR Layout, and Silk Board. Bellandur station itself will serve mainly the Bellandur suburban area, which comprises Bellandur Lake in addition to many technology firms such as Intel, RMZ Ecoworld and Embassy TechVillage, making it a key stop for the thousands who commute to these campuses daily.
On the timeline, there's been a notable shift. This metro station is slated to become operational December 2026 instead of June 2026. The same revised schedule applies across the corridor, with neighbouring stations like Ibbaluru and ISRO also slated to become operational December 2026 instead of June 2026. This isn't an isolated slippage; BMRCL has cited specific, on-ground reasons for the delay. According to project trackers, three sites are cited as the specific holdups: at Central Silk Board, the viaduct needed for train reversal has been delayed by pending permissions, site-clearing and drainage work; at Ibbalur, construction has been slowed by underground utility conflicts including a high-pressure GAIL gas pipeline and water lines, and land acquisition; and the 1.097 km link line to Baiyappanahalli Depot is also still pending.
A bigger piece of news for the station's identity emerged this year. In February 2026, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited signed a station sponsorship deal for this upcoming metro station as part of Phase 2A of Blue Line, under which Prestige Group agreed to invest around ₹120 crore to facilitate the construction process and enhance passenger facilities, and was granted the right to use the name of the station for 30 years, with the station now named Prestige Bellandur Metro Station. The deal also provides limited commercial and advertising space in the station and the possibility of developing connectivity with nearby business development sites, as part of BMRCL's efforts to develop metro infrastructure and passenger experience through public-private partnerships along the Outer Ring Road corridor. This is one of the first station-naming partnerships of its kind on the Blue Line, and it signals how seriously developers are backing ORR connectivity.
Structurally, the station will be an elevated, double-track facility, sitting between Kadubeesanahalli and Ibbaluru on the north-south corridor. For residents and IT professionals in Bellandur, Green Glen Layout, and nearby Sarjapur Road pockets, this station will eventually offer a direct rail link toward Silk Board in one direction and toward KR Puram, Hebbal, and the airport in the other, once the full corridor stitches together.
It's worth noting that ORR itself is undergoing simultaneous upgrades. Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road tech corridor will see its main carriageway dug up and replaced with concrete roads in a Rs 378-crore redevelopment project spanning the 17.1km stretch from Silk Board Junction to KR Puram, expected to cause disruption. Combined with the metro construction, homebuyers should expect some near-term traffic friction, but the payoff, a functioning metro plus a resurfaced ORR, is a strong long-term value driver for real estate in Bellandur.
For homebuyers evaluating projects in this belt, the practical takeaway is this: December 2026 is the current target, but Phase 2A has already seen one slippage, so a modest further buffer is realistic. Even so, the visible construction progress, the Prestige naming deal, and coordinated road upgrades all point to genuine momentum. Projects within walking or short-drive distance of the upcoming Bellandur station, including established addresses along Green Glen Layout and Sarjapur Road, stand to gain the most once trains start running.
