The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island, Kerala

The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island is an ultra-luxury, all-villa resort being developed on a private island near Vaikom in Kerala's backwaters, close to Kochi. It marks the first Ritz-Carlton address in Kerala and is being built through a partnership between Marriott International and Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited, the hospitality arm of Bengaluru-headquartered Brigade Group. The Ritz-Carlton Vaikom Island, Kerala offers 70 villas, opening fiscal year 2029.

Slated to welcome guests and residents in FY 2029, the resort will bring the brand's timeless elegance, forward-thinking design and authentic transformative experiences to Kerala, blending exclusivity with refined elegance in a 70-key all-villa retreat where each accommodation comes with a private pool. The resort will have a strong focus on wellness and will also be ideal for weddings and leisure getaways with the option of full resort buyouts.

This project is part of a larger, landmark agreement between the two brands. Marriott International announced it has signed an agreement with The Brigade Hotel Ventures Limited to open six hotels (940 rooms) in four markets across India. With this signing, Brigade reinforces its nearly 15-year partnership with Marriott, further strengthening a successful relationship.

Set against the backdrop of Vembanad Lake's backwater channels, the island setting is central to the resort's identity. The choice of location aligns with Ritz-Carlton's commitment to delivering transformative experiences rooted in local culture and natural beauty. As a Brigade Hotel Ventures asset, the villas here are conceived as an operated branded resort rather than a conventional apartment sale, positioning it as a rare institutional-grade hospitality investment on Kerala's backwaters.
