Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam, Chennai

Pallavaram–Thuraipakkam Radial Road, designated State Highway 109, runs from Grand Southern Trunk Road at Pallavaram to Rajiv Gandhi Salai at Thuraipakkam, stitching together two of South Chennai's biggest growth belts. The residential catchments along OMR, ECR, and this Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Road, such as Sholinganallur, Perungudi, Siruseri, and Pallavaram, catered to pent-up residential demand over the last decade, turning what was once open farmland into one of the city's most talked-about corridors.

The Pallavaram-Thoraipakkam Radial Road was once a sprawling open space with fields, marshland and lush greenery all around, but a steady rise of commercial, residential and infrastructural developments made it an emerging hub in the suburbs of the city. Today, the corridor is strengthened by major commercial hubs such as Embassy Splendid TechZone and CapitaLand's ITPC Radial Road / ITPC Pallavaram, making it an important IT-driven real estate belt in South Chennai, alongside Brigade's own Tech Boulevard office development.

Pallavaram, located at the start of the 200 Feet Radial Road, is situated at a key junction on GST Road, offering excellent connectivity to the rest of the city and beyond. Towards the other end, Thoraipakkam is one of the most premium residential localities along the corridor, known for its proximity to the OMR IT corridor and a hub for IT professionals. This mix of an established suburb on one side and a booming IT address on the other gives homebuyers a genuine choice between settled infrastructure and modern high-rise living.

Growth here has been steady rather than speculative. The road has seen significant infrastructural development, with proposals to expand it into a six-lane highway and a bus rapid transit system, while the Keelkattalai Flyover has eased traffic at the Echangadu junction. Green pockets still survive too — one can still find patches of green plots and huge trees along the road, a reminder of the fertile land it once was.
